Dr James Knox, BSc(Med), MBBS, DTM+H, FRCPA, FRACP
Early career
Dr Knox began work as a doctor in 2000 at The Canberra Hospital. After completing his basic physician’s training in Canberra, he moved to Melbourne for advanced training in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. During this time, he worked at several Melbourne Hospitals including Monash Medical Centre, The Austin and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
International Experience and Research
During his training, Dr Knox took time out to complete a Diploma of Tropical Medicine at Liverpool University, UK and volunteered with Medecins Sans Frontieres in medical projects in war-torn areas of Angola and Sudan. He also spent time researching new diagnostic methods for multi-resistant bacteria at Swinburne University and published proof-of-principle studies demonstrating the effectiveness of using mass spectrometry for this purpose.
Current Practice
Since receiving dual specialist qualifications in 2014 he has worked as an Infectious Diseases Physician and Microbiologist. In 2019, as Director of Microbiology at Dorevitch Pathology, he began leading a team of specialist doctors. He also practices as an Infectious Diseases specialist at Mulgrave Private Hospital. In 2024, he launched Glide Online Travel Clinic.
